Hounslow Heath Junior School has very well established Health and Safety procedures, which are reviewed alongside the Health and Safety policy at least annually. The school's Emergency Response and Recovery Plan is also reviewed annually. This allows the school to plan for a range of possible emergencies, in addition to fire evacuation.

In the event of an emergency such as a fire, the whole school is evacuated, with all children and adults accounted for in approximately five minutes. If necessary the school can be evacuated to neighbouring schools, in accordance with the Emergency Response Plan. In the event of a high level of risk requiring the school community to be kept securely inside the school building, a lock-down procedure is in place to keep all children and adults safely secured in rooms until the risk has been addressed.

In event of an emergency, relevant parents and carers will be informed. However, informing all parents and carers, as the risk is identified, or during the emergency procedure, adds to the risk and is potentially very dangerous. The school will contact and support relevant parents and carers as soon as it is safe to do so. Parents, carers and visitors are asked not come to the school site if there is a perceived emergency unless they have been contacted. During an emergency procedure calls and visits will not be received by the school office.
