Health and Safety Relating to Covid-19 in 2022-23.

The UK Government withdrew national guidance to schools relating to Covid-19 on Friday 1st April, removing all restrictions. However, the school continues to review control measures in line with its Health and Safety policies and the needs of the school community. The school continues to use enhanced cleaning and ventilation to reduce risk. Adults may use face masks if they are concerned about crowding or transmission.

The School's Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic up to July 2022

The Secretary of State for Education announced on Wednesday 18th March that all Schools in England would close from Monday 23rd March 2020. The school uploaded work on the school website each week, for all year groups to access; enabling home learning to continue.

When the school was closed, we stayed open for our key worker families and parents of children with EHCPs. We are very grateful to the school community for their support, as well as the integrity and commitment demonstrated by staff during this unprecedented time.

On Sunday 10th May the Prime Minister outlined the government’s roadmap for easing of the measures in place for the partial reopening.  For our school this related to Year 6 pupils, and we also included Year 5 pupils.  There was a smooth transition back to school for those Year 6 pupils attending from Tuesday 2nd June, for the additional Year 5 pupils and other 'vulnerable' groups.

On Tuesday 23rd June 2020 the government announced that schools would fully reopen in September 2020. Further risk assessments were drawn up by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), which were published on this page and are regularly updated as required. The robust risk assessment process adheres to national guidance, first published on Thursday 2nd July, which has been updated  regularly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday 30th December 2020, the Secretary of State for Education announced that schools in specific boroughs such as the London Borough of Hounslow, and therefore Hounslow Heath Junior School, would close to all pupils at the start of the Spring Term, except for pupils of critical key workers and ‘vulnerable’ pupils, until Monday 8th March 2021.

The school reopened fully to all pupils on Monday 8th March 2021. Please refer to and observe school control measures set out in the regularly updated Covid-19 Risk Assessment document published below, and to national guidance, to keep yourselves and the whole community safe. We will keep our parents updated on further developments and other key messages via Parentmail the weekly Newsletter and the school website. Please read ParentMail communication, as well as the Newsletter each week and regularly check this page; referring any queries to to the school.

We wish all our families the very best for the academic year 2022-2023 and hope everyone remains healthy.
