Additional Activities

As well as a wide range of class-based and school-based provisions, including physiotherapy sessions, Centre pupils and children with additional needs participate fully in a range of additional activities:

  • In accordance with the children's needs there are regular swimming sessions at the local pool.
  • Centre tea parties provide an opportunity for children, parents and staff to meet each other in an informal setting.
  • During the year we play a range of inclusive sports, including the Paralympic sports of boccia and curling.
  • Centre pupils participate in activities with Centre pupils from other schools, for example through the annual 'Mini Olympics'.
  • Many of our Centre pupils are given the opportunity to attend the school's residential trips to Osmington Bay and the Isle of Wight. Careful liason and planning ensures that Centre pupils are able to access activities they may never have tried before. Along with their mainstream friends, our Centre pupils have braved quad biking, trampolining, abseiling, zip-wires and climbing.
  • Each year, Centre pupils spend the day out on the 'Kidsout Day' organised by the Variety Club. These trips have included visits to Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures.
